Despite the existence of such a powerful abiding law concerning freedom of speech violations to this constitutional right have occurred many times throughout America’s history. Music is a form of expression that allows artists to express their thought and feelings their loyal fans. Music unites people and provides musicians with the ability to send social messages that can change their environmental surroundings. In the 1990’s a new genre of music was born called Gangster Rap. This new form of rap utilized violent lyrics and sexually explicit material which many segments of our society did not like.
